26 weeks!

Day 13 of Hospital Bed Rest

Another week down - 26 weeks!! I got more good news this morning.  I talked to the Attendings about my husband's work schedule and when he'd be able to take me home once we hit 28 weeks.  They are totally fine w/Ray taking me home on the Sunday before 28 weeks.  I'll be 27 weeks 5 days.  So now the countdown is really on ;-)  I also found out how exactly the 3 hour glucose test will work tomorrow:

759 am fasting blood draw
800am drink dreaded glucola drink
900am blood draw
1000am blood draw
1100am blood draw and then I can finally eat -- it's going to be a very long morning

Most of the day was spent w/my needle.  I started the dreaded shades of green in the background.  It went better than I thought it was going to go -- just tough because the shades are so close.  Of course, I forgot to take a pic of my progress, so tomorrow I'll make sure to post a pic.  I think I might be able to finish it on Thursday.  Well here's my belly at 26 weeks...

Happy Memorial Day

Day 12 of hospital bed rest

Today was quite a busy day!  Since it's Monday, I had my NST.  Everything was perfect once again : babies looked great and NO contractions.  I could hear my boys in the hall at 10.  JP said "that's mommy's room."  I hafta say they both looked ever so handsome today ;-)  JP was wearing this new orange polo daddy bought him the other day -- very dashing.  Ray was looking very nice in his striped button down shirt.  They took me out again to the garden.  This time we played wheelchair tag.  It was HILARIOUS! JP kept saying "chase me chase me."  After tag, the boys wanted lunch, so we went down to the cafeteria.  They had subway, and that's when S text me she was there :)  I'm really happy she came to visit.  The boys left at noon, so they could make it back home in time for JP's nap.  We had a nice girl's afternoon.  I was really hoping that she could take a peek at the twins, but apparently, it was hopping today in Labor & Delivery.  We found out that my growth scan will be this Friday.  I am really hoping for each baby to be at least 2lbs -- just hafta wait and see.  We did talk about baby items today like what they need to have right away.  Then, we did our research on pumps for me.  I really like all the reviews for the Medela Pump in Style.  We just need to decide on when to order it and all the accessories to make sure it's here & ready to go.  S then got down to business ;-)  NAIL TIME!  She brought her nail polish all the way from Boston.  I must say she did a fabulous job.  I mentioned that she should think about doing this part time HAHA   It's amazing how good you feel w/a fresh coat polish.  My feet were in dire need of polish and now have been revived. She is just a wonderful person for thinking of doing that.  Oh to top that, she got me the cutest card and this super cute bath robe.  I am so lucky to have the best IPs!! Well because of my jam packed day, I did not get that far on my needlepoint .  I did get the black started on the butterfly.  My needle will be waiting for me tomorrow :)

The Little Things...

Day 11 of hospital bed rest

I FINALLY got to see my boys today!!!  JP came walking in the door w/this little coach bag saying "I have mommy's present!"  I was like WHAT?!?!  In the bag were these 2 cute lil figurines that JP (w/help from daddy) colored and this gorgeous coach box wrapped in a bow :)  They got me a beautiful bracelet...Ray said that in the store JP actually picked it out because mommy likes butterflies.  I am just the luckiest.  They also got to take me out to the garden this afternoon.  Let me say that fresh air was amazing.  JP felt very important helping daddy push me in the wheelchair.  I really missed them this week.  I am really glad they came today, because I was in dire need of clean clothes LOL He also got me a new snoogle cover so mine could get washed.  Then, they treated mommy to "real" food down in the cafeteria for lunch -- fish sandwich YUM!  Ray also clarified that I am NOT doing cross stitch but am doing needle point.  I stand corrected.  I showed him the kanoodle -- got the first puzzle but now stuck (we'll see how he fairs tomorrow).  More good news, NO MORE BLOOD STICKS!!!  Sugars have been perfect, so I'll have the 3 hour glucose test end of this week or the next.  I can't wait, so I can get off this low carb diet.  Here's all the pics from today :)

1st Time Stitcher

Day 10 of hospital bed rest

I spent the entire afternoon and early evening doing the cross stitch kit.  Once I got it going, it was pretty fun.  I finished up 3 colors in the smaller designs (that's what the directions recommended).  Sometimes it was hard to figure out exactly what color goes where when the square was covered in more than one color.  Here's how it looks so far...

Started off on a soapbox!

Day 9 of hospital bed rest

Well my morning started awesome (insert sarcasm) at 530am, I got a brand new IV.  I was livid because I was sleeping amazing! Dr. Duke came in at 630am and was surprised to see me awake.  I promptly told her what happened, and she was pissed!  I was happy to hear that the charge nurse got ripped a new one HAHA!  That definitely put me in a better mood.  Ray then called me at 1000am to tell me JP aced his playgroup, so he's officially in pre-k for the fall!  The day was really starting to turn around.  Me and S chatted for a bit and told me she was coming to visit on Monday -- more good news :)  I got another surprise this afternoon: box of goodies from S & B.  They are just so wonderful.  They got me this puzzle game called "kanoodle" (did a couple basic puzzles but now am stumped LOL), cute nightlight, and a lovely cross-stitch kit (tomorrow's goal).

Me and Manisha finally got to hang out this afternoon.  It was fun just hearing each other's stories of how we got here.  She's a very strong woman -- she's on week 5 of hospital bed rest and hopefully many more to come!  Her and the triplets have been through a lot.  She said she was actually having some contractions when we were talking, so of course I made sure she felt ok.  It's just really nice having a friend on the floor!

Baby Kate

Day 8 of hospital bed rest

Today was a wonderful day!  My dear friend Cara came to visit with her baby girl - Kate :)  They wouldn't let her come back to my room, so I just had the nurse wheel me out in the lobby.  It was actually nice to be "out" for awhile -- I was joking w/the nurses saying I was "busting out" HAHA Last time I saw Cara and the baby was back when she first came home - days old.  Omgosh how big she got!  She's 7 weeks old and just melts your heart in about 1 second.  It was wonderful just snuggling w/her, and I know Cara appreciated having free arms ;-)  We just caught up and chatted the afternoon away.  I saw Dr. E when I was holding Kate.  I told him don't worry it's not one of the twins LOL  Cara was nice enough to bring me some juicy gossip magazines and chapstick -- so I'm stocked now!  I am so happy they came.  Now it's on to the other thing I have been waiting for all day : SEASON PREMIERE OF SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE!!!!

Ps,

NST today went perfect babies again look great and no contractions!

For the Love of Chapstick

One Week of Hospital Bedrest down!!

First off, I just want to say my culture came back negative, so I don't have strep :)  I was supposed to have 2 visitors today: Cara and my neighbors.  They were both going to bring me chapstick LOL  I have been just going crazy without it.  Cara called this morning saying she had to have a guy come over and check her house for a snake (which they found this afternoon thank goodness!).  Then, Marie text me that her husband's brother was in the hospital, so they couldn't come tonight. About an hour after I received that text, the nurse walked in w/an envelope saying I had mail.  I saw it was from S&B, so I just thought it was a funny card.  I COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT WAS INSIDE.....CHAPSTICK!!!!!!!!!!!!  It was like a miracle LMAO  I immediately called her and was like HOW DID YOU KNOW!!!   One of her friends had saw a post I had on FB and told her -- thank you "little bird".  Life really is about the little things.  I haven't stopped smacking my lips all afternoon -- I am just in heaven!! WOOHOO

WOOHOO and OVAY

The babies are 25 weeks gestation today!!  3 weeks left to go on hospital bedrest (as long as everything stays the same) :)

So that above statement is my WOOHOO part of the title!  Now to the "ovay" part LOL...

I got a call about 1130ish from JP's daycare saying he had a fever of 101.9.  Immediately, I felt bad for Ray because I know that means he's not getting any sleep today.  Ray thought it was probably caused from JP running a muck outside on the playground in the heat and just not being hydrated.  Well, I wanted to be sure it wasn't something serious, so I got him an appt on base to be checked out.  Ray told me that as soon as they walked in the door at home JP grabbed the packers blanket & passed out on the loveseat (that's not our son at all).  Well the appt time came and went.  I didn't hear from Ray until about 315pm and got the news -- THEY BOTH HAVE STREP.  I am so glad I made the appt.  They think that JP contracted it yesterday based on his symptoms.  Ray didn't pop + on the 1st culture, so they used the 2nd ultra sensitive test.  It showed on that.  They were stuck at the clinic for like 4 hours, so I just felt bad for both of them :(  Ray said amazingly JP really lasted the whole time until right before they got their prescriptions.  The boys are home sick all week and that means I can't see them till next week -- SUPER BOO! I just hate it when they are sick.  I know you're wondering...I got my throat swabbed as well.  I'm waiting on the results just to be sure.

I did get a text today from my friend Cara saying that her and the baby will be visiting tomorrow!! I can't wait to see them both.  Then through the grape vine - aka my nurse, found out that there is another woman carrying multiples down the hall.  I thought I would pass her a note today seeing if she would just want to chat and maybe hang out :)  Well she emailed back and she sounds lovely!  She's carrying triplets (2 girls/boy).

What a day!  I'm definitely ready to watch the season finale of "The Biggest Loser"...

The Claw

Day 6 of Hospital Bed Rest

Well this is going to be short and sweet.  I got a new IV from the tech this afternoon (didn't go well).  She put it in my hand, hence the title I'm having a hard time moving my hand.  I had the NST (non-stress test) this morning, and the twins looked great -- NO contractions!  So I'll leave it on that note :)

Lazy Sunday

Day 5 of Hospital Bedrest

Well last night, I got a new night nurse.  Janice was nice don't get me wrong, but for being on the "night shift", just talked too much.  I was definitely wishing I had Becky (Heather my day nurse told me she got pulled in to Labor & Delivery).  I was trying to be polite when she was asking me questions, but I know I was coming off "short."  I just can't believe she thought I wanted to discuss goals for this pregnancy at 1030pm at night, so she could put it on the board in the room -- OVAY!  Needless to say, "things that are important to me during my stay are #1 staying pregnant #2 rest".  The boys came over at 11am, and of course just put a big smile on my face.  We all just snuggled and watched "You've Got Mail".  I haven't seen that movie in forever, and we were just laughing about good ol' AOL.  I made sure to give Ray my dirty clothes, because they won't be back till Thursday.  After they left, I spent the afternoon salivating over the Travel Channel's Best Buns marathon.  I was just in awe watching all the sandwiches they had on the shows -- might have drooled a little too.  Speaking of food, the tech just came in and put me on the scale -- up 2lbs 154.5 :)  Well my laptop needs to charge....

You can call him Dr. Watts

Hospital Bed Rest Day 4

I just need to say, last night I slept AMAZING! I haven't slept that good in awhile -- even at home.  Of course, I was just waiting to see my boys again today!  They strolled in about 1030am :)  I called my nurse, and she was able to bring JP a stethoscope & the doppler.  So this is where the title comes in, he just thought he was mr. authority on the twins.  Me and Ray were just laughing the whole time -- it was so darn cute.  JP was listening to everything w/the stethoscope - knees, elbows, fingers, hands, my nose, daddy's cheek and of course my stomach.  When he got the doppler in his hand, he was just like "WOW".  Then, he started using the ultrasound gel and the doppler as a crayon, so he started "drawing" on my stomach.  The doctors came in again while they were here. The MFM noted JP's WI badger shirt and was asking how do we know about the badgers.  I told her that's where my family's from and so is her family.  I tell ya it's a small world. The boys got lunch down in the cafeteria - so jealous.  I could smell the fries as soon as they walked in the room.  Ray did share 2 fries dipped in ranch ;-)  I just need to keep being "ms. perfect patient", so I can get back home because I'm pretty sure I could have inhaled all of his fries HAHA.  Well it's time to catch up on the season finale of America's Next Top Model....

My boys

Hospital bed rest day 3

Last night was so much better since I did NOT have the wraps on :)  I actually was able to sleep from about 9pm - 7am which was nice.  Breakfast was also 1000x better -- scrambled eggs w/bacon!  Picking your own meals really makes a difference : little victories.  After I ate, I went through my bed rest exercises and was waiting for Ray to call to see when they were coming.  Like my title says today was about my boys :)  It was soo nice having them visit.  They ended up surprising me...I thought it was my nurse coming in LOL  JP was all about the "robots" on mommy's legs HAHA  Ray told me that JP wanted to bring his screwdriver w/so he could "fix" mommy. I was like how about some duct tape, and we'll just plug my cervix LMAO.  I was just enjoying having my boys sit w/me on the bed while watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  Dr. E came while they were here which is what I was hoping.  I'm glad Ray got to meet him finally.  He's glad I'm doing good and just said to keep on trucking along :) I was hoping to have the nurse come in and let JP use the doppler to find the twin's heartbeats, but she was caught up in discharging patients.  Hopefully tomorrow he can, I know he'll get a kick out of it.  I was just enjoying snuggle time w/them. They left about 1230pm and literally 2 min later the nurse came in w/the doppler LOL   My lunch I have to say was pretty awesome -- crab cake sandwich.  I was a VERY happy camper.  I got another surprise this afternoon from my mom.  She ordered this really cute rose arrangement in a smiley mug.  It's so cheery and put a big smile on my face.  I spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on tv and just relaxing.  I did another round of bed rest exercises and ate my baked fish for dinner.  Today was just a really great day.  I can't wait to see my boys again tomorrow!!

Getting the hang of room 259

Day 2 of hospital Bed rest

S came back last night with my snoogle, and surprised me with a cute pot of sunflowers, gatorade, trail mix & sugar free gum.  It was so sweet.  Last night when I was trying to sleep was pretty bad, until my nurse Nikki ( at 1 am) saved the day by bringing me a fan (so hot even with the room thermometer all the way down), and I took off the calf wraps.  I did manage to get some good sleep from about 2am-8am. Dr. Duke came in about 5 am and wasn't too pleased about me taking the wraps off -- but I was in desperate need of sleep.  BREAKING NEWS I HEART DR.E HE SAID I DON'T NEED TO WEAR THE WRAPS AT NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO Ok what was I talking about? I had a blood draw this morning and a stick for sugar levels -- really good 99.  They just did it an hour ago before I got my lunch -- even better 82 :)  Breakfast on that note was pretty gross.  They were probably the worst blueberries pancakes EVER, but now I can pick my own meals!!  Logan, my day nurse, got me all hooked up to the monitors to check the babies.  They looked wonderful and NO contractions!  I already told her I hope you don't mind being in my blog ;-) She's actually a former navy brat and lived in HI.  I really do have to say the nurses I have our just amazing.  Like I mentioned above Dr. E (MFM) came in, and we were just talking about the "new" situation.  He's really so great.  I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders now that I don't have to worry about those wraps at night.  I also talked to him again about me possibly going back home at 28 weeks if there's still no change, and he agrees.  I really am feeling so great right now!  Lunch came and was actually really good ( I picked it out hehe) - grilled chicken sandwich on ciabatta w/ swiss cheese, lettuce & pesto, milk and cherry jello.  I'm still waiting to see the physical therapist about exercises.  We are going to try and get weights of the babies sometime this afternoon whenever sono has an opening.  Well, I'm just going to relax this afternoon :)

The Long and Short of it...

Day 1 hospital bedrest

Well doesn't that just say it all!  Let me tell you how I got on the hospital bed... S&B picked me up right on time this morning. On the way to the hospital, we grabbed a bite to eat at McDs.  We really did luck out with traffic this morning and got to our appt early.  We went back to ultrasound about 730am, and right away, we could see the funnel had changed back to "dynamic" instead of the "open valley" of last week.  They said our length remained the same, but it looked like contractions might be causing the dynamic funneling (open/closing of the top of the cervix).  Of course yet again, I was like "what!?!?" because I'm not feeling anything.  They brought Dr. S in from our MFM team, and she just said that they wanted to put me on the monitors up in Labor and Delivery for a bit to really see if indeed I am contracting. I was just happy my cervix didn't get any shorter!  Up we go to L/D, I swear I looked like "robot woman" with all the monitors they had on my stomach. B was joking that the twins heartbeats sounded like race horses LOL  My nurse Heidi (who was great) noted that I was having very very mild contractions.  She mostly thought since they were so "small" that it was just uterine irritability.  Dr. Duke the resident OB on duty came in to do an exam (not fun w/a speculum) just to double check I wasn't leaking any fluid.  She found no fluid -- YAY, and they weren't concerned about my contractions.  I told S I can taste the cheesecake now, we'll be able to make it out of here!  I spoke to soon...she did the internal exam of my cervix with her fingers -- 2cm dilated!  Me and S couldn't believe it.  As soon as Dr. Duke said that, I knew I was going to have to stay.  She had a pow-wow with Dr. Henderson (the MFM on the floor) for the "new" game plan.  They got my IV started, blood drawn and kept me on the monitors for another 3 hours.  The Drs. wanted to see if indeed these contractions were causing change -- if that was the case, I was going to stay on the L/D floor instead of going to the ante-partum wing.  I had to down the awful sugar syrup (tasted like sprite syrup YUCK), and then I got the shot of steroids for the babies lungs (not gonna lie that one hurt).  I get the 2nd dose tomorrow (24hrs later).  Finally, Dr. Duke came back in to check my cervix -- NO CHANGE!!!  We all breathed a sigh of relief knowing that I would just be in the ante-partum wing.   I am now on Procardia every 4hrs (to keep the contractions at bay), will have non-stress testing 2x week (to check for contractions w/the monitors), physical therapist is coming tomorrow to show me more bedrest exercises, and our new goal is 28 weeks!  If at 28 weeks, I am still 2cm and doing well they said there's a good chance I could go back to at home bed rest.  That would be wonderful :)  But first and foremost, my job is to keep these babies in as long as possible - so let the countdown begin! I am here for a definite 4 weeks, so just keep those positive vibes coming!  I did get the results back from my gestational diabetes test : 8 points over the limit of 140 (148).  They're just going to keep an eye on my diet and stick me before each meal -- they're not very concerned.  Just stinks it was still over the limit. Well my dinner just arrived...

1st Goal Has been Accomplished!!

Today marks the twins 24th week of gestation -- we made our first goal of viability! Officially 1 week 1 day of bedrest...

I feel so great today!  Once again, I didn't sleep very well last night, but it doesn't matter because we made our first goal!!! The babies have been VERY active today -- they have been celebrating too.  S & B are flying in late tonight.  I made my list of things to pack in my suitcase, and I'll pack tonight before Ray leaves for work.  I just want to be prepared if they tell me tomorrow at our appt that I need to stay at the hospital.  After posting a thread on SMO, I got some great suggestions from fellow surros on what to pack besides toiletries and clothes.  I have prepared Ray that it's a definite possibility now.  He just said if you are staying at the hospital call me, otherwise we'll just talk when you get home - no news is good news.  Here's how tomorrow is laid out : 615am S & B will be picking me up , 800am ultrasound for cervical length, whenever that concludes we have our appt with the MFM team , 11am NICU tour, 1230pm Labor and Delivery tour and finally gestational diabetes gluclose test.  It's going to be a very long day.  Well the twinkies are saying it's time for dinner...

1 day to go!!

Officially 1st week of bed rest complete! 1 day till our first goal of 24 weeks - viability!!!

I hafta say this week went by pretty fast.  I know last Monday it seemed like this was going to be the LONGEST week ever, but surprisingly, it just zoomed on bye.  I finished my 2nd book last night "Mrs. Perfect" -- excellent & a very fast read.  It's been a couple years actually since I've read something taking place in the 21st century LOL!! So I think I'll switch every other book now between the past and present.  I just picked a classic I've always wanted to read for my next selection - "Vanity Fair".

Anywho, this morning I did feel nauseous again, but I had plenty of time to take my zofran and let my stomach settle.  I need to make sure I have another Rx put in for it at our appt on Wed.  JP woke up right on time at 6am, and by the time he took off his jammies and pull up Lauren walked in the door :)  Ray was able to get home fairly quick -- I'd say I heard his keys at the front door about 640 which was nice.  Lauren and her mom have been saving their magazines for me, so this morning she brought me a HUGE pile of People, InStyle, etc!! It's nice catching up on the gossip haha!  I wasn't too keen on JP getting up that early this morning, because I just didn't sleep very well last night -- couldn't get super comfy like normal.  I did manage to take a nap when Ray was ready to go to bed about 730.  I got almost 3 hours which felt good!  Oh before I forget, JP did NOT get a haircut yesterday just daddy :)

My new book is calling my name...

2 days to go...

Day 6 of bedrest...

I just hafta say projectile vomit on Sunday morning is not really the best way to start your day -- OVAY!  I had a really great breakfast and was laying on the couch (of course) w/JP.  I started to feel a bit nauseous, so I went to grab my zofran (nauseous medication).  Then, it HIT -- NO TIME FOR ZOFRAN. I quick covered my mouth, and barely I mean barely made it to the toilet.  JP was standing in the hallway saying "yuck-ee" and I was in agreement.  That's definitly enough "excitement" for one day.  The boys are currently out and about right now running errands.  Ray's been saying that JP needs to get a haircut, but I like it longer instead of the "buzz cut".  I mean he's not going to the Naval Academy yet ;-) I hope that when they get home only daddy got the haircut.  Lauren's coming over at 3 this afternoon to take care of JP while Ray takes his "long" nap before he goes back in to work tonight.  Once again, Lauren is awesome!  So her new schedule is sunday afternoons 3-6pm, and then mon - thurs morning 6am until ray is home.  Well, the twins are saying it's time for a snack...

3 days to go...

Good Saturday afternoon :)

Happy to report, I just finished my first book on Nook!  "The Virgin Widow" was an excellent read and exactly why I love historical fiction.  I have some sample books I'll look into tonight to see what I want to download & start next.  Our little monster just awoke from his nap -- saying through the door "daddy I awake, I awake".  He is pretty darn adorable.  I believe with the flush of the toilet he woke up dry from his nap & tinkled in the potty! WOOHOO It is the little victories ;-)  Ray's currently got the blender going for my muscle milk protein shake -- good way to help get more weight on the babies faster.  I had just read this afternoon a fellow surrogate (from a message board I follow) delivered her surro-twins at 26 weeks which I believe was yesterday.  They had good weights of 2lbs + .  From what I read this was very unexpected, so of course I wished her well and said a prayer for the babies.  It just hits home that every week matters and how much weight they put on.  On a different food note, the boys did very good this morning at the commissary!  I think Ray said he only left off 4 things from the list he couldn't find.  He did get into a bit of a scuffle with another mom over her daughter pushing the cart in a very small aisle, but another mom came "to the rescue" & basically chewed that mom out for poor parenting HAHA!  It's always something.  Anyways, we're planning on watching a movie altogether tonight we'll see what JP picks out :)...

4 days to go...

First off YAY blogger is back up but boo I don't know what happened to yesterday's post? Officially Day 5 of bed rest...

Well this morning, Ray and I finally got to catch up on the past 2 episodes of Grey's anatomy!! Hello drama..I have some thoughts on where the season finale could go, but I'll just wait to see if I'm right.  It was just nice spending quality time w/the hubby because I haven't really seen him much at all this week.  I hafta say he's just been amazing w/taking care of everything around here & waiting on me hand and foot.  I think a lot of people wonder what it would feel like to have your wife pregnant but pregnant with another couple's baby (in our case babies) and now on bed rest. He's been my cheerleader from the get-go, and now he's just in protective mode.  I started jokingly calling him "mr. mom" which is  pretty accurate now ;-)  He actually "made" dinner (aka non grilling) tonight -- enchiladas.  They were really good.  The twins have been kicking up a storm since I put down my fork, so I say they agree as well.  Also, I made the grocery list for the commissary.  I made sure I wrote out specific brands so it'll be easier for him and JP tomorrow.  It'll be interesting, but I think he'll be fine.

I still can't believe it's already Friday which means it's the weekend and then it's Tuesday!! Thanks again for all the support and love...

6 days to go...

Today is 6 days from 24 weeks viability (next Tuesday)! Officially Day 3 of bedrest.

Here's a quick recap of how I got on the couch...last Wednesday I had an appt at our MFM (maternal fetal medicine/high risk OBs) but before that was the twins monthly growth scan ultrasound.  The girl and boy looked great on the screen but the tech said they needed to do a trans-vaginal ultrasound.  I was a little confused. Well one of the drs from the MFM team comes w/ and i was like uh-oh. she's like we need to check ur cervix because it has shortened and we want to get a better measurement. They asked me if I'm on my feet all day or workout a lot. I said no I'm just a SAHM and my only exercise is our nightly family walks around our neighborhood.  She was happy to hear that and then she asked if I had been feeling any contractions or pressure and I said nope which is why I was really surprised.  Well they saw that there was "dynamic" funneling which means sometimes it funnels open and then it closes back up.They hung out in there for a lil bit to see if maybe I just wasn't feeling the contractions and there were none causing it. In the measurements it was between 2.1-2.5. she relayed this to the team upstairs and they got me in early for my MFM appt. The dr. I saw basically said its just watch and wait right now.  Of course I relayed this all to my IPs (intended parents S&B) and they both got flights down for the appt this past Monday.  When I saw the screen during our cervix check  the funnel had gotten bigger even though I didn't do anything and still felt great. The longest measurement they got was 1.4 and when I squeezed to simulate a contraction it went down to 1.1. The OB on rounds in ultrasound came in and we all agreed on the game plan.  I'm on bedrest for the rest of the pregnancy only up to pee & grab food and on vaginal progesterone (it has shown in studies to prolong a short cervix).  The good thing is I'm having NO contractions and I'm 23 weeks 1 day today so our first goal is next week for viability which I have no doubt we'll make.  My IPs and I got a great support group in place for me and my family : my son is in daycare now full time (which he loves), bi-weekly cleaning service, & my neighbor Lauren is coming in the mornings to help JP get ready before my husband gets home (he works nights).  Lauren will also be staying the night w/JP if I need to go on hospital bedrest (she is awesome!).

Anywho, I have decided to set daily goals for myself because heck I like lists and it makes time go by.  Yesterday the main goal was getting my Nook set up and today's goal was starting this blog :)  So I feel pretty accomplished.  Today I also plan on starting my bedrest "exercises" to help stave off atrophy.  I am getting much better now at making every bathroom break count to really cut down the time on my feet.  This morning when our son woke up early at 630am was a bit of a disaster. So that's when I had to call Lauren to save the day LOL and she'll be here Mon-Thurs mornings.  JP is still getting used to Mommy not being able to get off the couch but my hubby has just been amazing :)  As we say all hands on deck ( we're a navy family LOL).  I did get a hold of the nurse at the MFM clinic about getting our NICU/Labor and Delivery tour scheduled for next week.  She actually doesn't do that but emailed the NICU person for us and gave me the number for L/D.  I am waiting for 2 calls.  I just hope they can do it on the 18th when our next appt is.  S & B will be there and everything will be reassessed.  I just hope that I'll be able to keep bedresting at home but that's next week.  I feel very positive that we'll make it far but no one really knows how long this cervix will last.  I'm busy making lemonade out of lemons...but I think a lot of bedrest (by no means am I a pro LOL) is your mindset and having great support.

Until Tomorrow,
